Vic: Change time zones during 2006 Games, says chief

MELBOURNE, Jan 16 AAP - Melbourne's Commonwealth Games chairman Ron Walker wants other
states to conform to Victoria's time zone for the 2006 event.

Mr Walker has asked all Australian states to have a uniform time zone during the March
15-26 Games in Melbourne in 2006.

He said he had visited WA Premier Geoff Gallop, SA Premier Mike Rann and Queensland
Premier Peter Beattie urging them to consider the proposal.

"The Commonwealth Games is after all an Australian event that encompasses all of Australia,"
